Prime the pump before starting and it will left longer

If it really is the check valve, do I need to buy the oe style 300 dollar pump, or does buying an aftermarket pump fix the problem?

i have one in my car. took the stock plastic cover off the original pump and installed the new pump in it and welded it back together with a plastic welder. works fine so far.
