Just be aware that your engine could have enough cylinder wear (bowed in the middle, running on a bias, etc.) to where the block might need to be bored oversize to true it back up. That means getting new pistons, so don't go buying new rings until you get the block checked over at the machine shop for any "surprises".
This what I meant earlier when i said that the machine work will depend on what needs to be done to your motor lol. I would expect to spend 300-400 unless the guy he was talking to will give him a deal or your block is in great shape. You will know more once you tear it down.

I've found sbc engine bearing and gasket sets around before that were good prices on ebay but be careful what you buy on there. You might wanna just look for a rebuild kit at northern auto parts or somewhere similar. I've heard Northern has good kits and the kits can even be upgraded with hotter cams, different piston, etc. Im not sure if they have lt-1 kits but it might be worth it to look. Btw as far as their cams go im not sure how good there performance ones are but ive heard good things about their kits. northernautoparts.com

Man, good thing that car only needed an OPTI.

Anyway, sounds like you dodged a bullet on the machine work and best of luck to you on the rebuild.
