Couple questions about my 68
Hey guys,
So I am wrapping up the dynamat on my 68 and I had a couple questions. First my shifter/shifter base seems to be a different one than stock. I noticed the replacements look like the back end should be shorter? Will this effect putting in a console?
Second, is there supposed to be bolts or something where the front holes are in front of the shifter for the console? If so what do I do about that?
Finally, and please excuse my ignorance but does my car have AC? I took a pic of the unit under my glovebox area and was just curious.
I am totally new to working on cars so its just learn as I go. Thanks for the help.

Shifter base will not affect console installation. The two holes in front of your shifter are for the console mounting bracket, bolt the bracket to the floor (2 holes) then bolt the console to the bracket. Your second picture is of a heater box, no AC.
I asked the same question a couple of days ago and you are not going to like the answer. The transmission has to move. There may be some tricks to doing it without pulling the tranny but none of them can self seal themselves.
Sorry, I have to do the same thing.
I feel your pain.
