Default gorrila chip

i have a 94 Z28 with the LT1 i managed to land one of those stage two chips promising almost 60 more hp from a buddy with a extra. ive read good and bad things about them but i like this car to much to do something to screw up its performance and engine life.....should i install the chip or not?

What does your 'buddy' have to say about it? You can try it, but you aren't going to get 60 hp.

You can add it, but it's not going to get you anything. It's going to trick the car into running rich (changes the signal from the MAF), unfortunately for you, your car detects this change and after a while rewrites the fuel trims to make the mixture what it should be. So it will get you a nice rich smell for a couple of weeks, then everything will be back to normal.

This is the 3rd time I've answered this question in a week...*sigh*

If the car came from the factory with a T56 it has 3.42's
If the car came from the factory with a 4L60E it will have 2.73 or if they got the performance rear end it will have 3.23's.

Open your driver side door and look at your option codes, there will be a code that is GU#, let us know what number is after the GU and we can tell you what you have.
