just an update now that it's warmed up a little in Colorado getting back into some fixes and upgrades.
Installed and just about done with a decent sound system. I'm storing the perfectly fine Bose set up but just can't see it going back in anytime soon.
HUmount kit and Kenwood Pandora, BT, HD radio set to blue. Sub box in, two old school MTX amps, and nice Kenwood mids and highs set up now, sounds amazing enough to take off T-tops and crank the heater up and cruise the chilly night here.
Trying to find time to get the LED dash conversion done and then deciding on wheels to go with.....

You might want to start a new thread,'96 was the first year for the 4th gen Camaro SS SLP (http://www.slponline.com/info/about-slp.html)
SLP converted the Z28's to SS for GM.
The car is actually both a Z28 and SS,my 2001 even says Z28 SS on the title.
The power output on the SS was upgraded to 305 hp from the standard Z28's LT1 rated 275 hp.
Confirming it's a real SS can be done searching this site with the vin #.
Model : Camaro SS : The Official SLP Registry

ya I looked it up all sve gave me was the date it went and came out. It’s car 1132 for the year and options included base alterations, exhaust, hurst, mats, suspension and torsen. I was kinda hoping to get in touch with a previous owner to find a little more out about it. Right now it is in very very poor condition.

Well be advised that many parts are no longer available from GM and there is not a lot of aftermarket support for these cars especially the early 4th gens with LT motors ('93-'97). So if you plan to save it don't pay much for it as you'll never get back what you spend to make it nice again.
Be prepared to look for used parts depending on what you need, most motor parts are available but many other parts can be hard to find.

yes I’m getting a really good deal on it. We are mainly buying it as a project for my son. He starts auto tech in high school and this is something for him to learn and tinker with. But I do want to keep it original as possible. Car runs and drives really well 80% is cosmetic. The plan is to have it for him and I also have my 01 ws6 6m car.

Well good luck with it and make sure that boy respects the power these cars have. Happy new year!
