Question Fuel Gremlin. HELP !

Unmodified stock 5.7 - 6 speed 1996 Z-28. The fuel pump was getting loud and then the car wouldnt start. So, I put in a fuel pump and sending unit. a Spectra, link below. I tested the old pump on the bench and it worked fine. The 15a. fuse was blown in the fuse block behind the opened drivers side door on the dash. The car still wouldnt start. We replaced the relay that is under the left foot rest trim panel on the drivers side. The car started and ran like a Swiss watch for 14 miles, and then it just quit. Like someone flipped a switch, just done. Pulled over and the car would crank, but just wasnt getting fuel. It was raining really hard, dont know if it matters.

I'm lost, any ideas?

I went through 3 assembles in 30 days before I got a good one. Can you hear the pump trying? I had one of the factory hose pop off inside the sending unit of the good pump. That pump was so quiet I just reinstalled the hose and added a clamp. that pump lasted the rest of the life of the car. The ones I was using where Airtec or something like that but they where the complete assembly in the same price range as yours.

borrow a fuel pressure test gauge and see if your getting any pressure to the fuel rail/injectors. should be able to borrow one at most any parts store. may have to leave money with them until you bring it back.

Fuel pumps is something you don't want to cheap out on, unless you like doing the job more than once: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...7/applications
