Default Fuel Gauge Stuck

Hi all, I'm fairly new to the forum and I have a question about my 93' Camaro Z28 that I recently purchased. The previous owner babied the car and it is in pretty top shape considering the year. For about the last year or so, he said the he only drove the car 1-2 miles per month, just to keep it active. Just recently, he said he put some gas in the car and for some reason the fuel gauge is stuck on FULL now. I've added gas since I've bought it, and it still is not moving. He stated that perhaps is may be from just sitting awhile??? The car runs great but the fuel gauge is driving me nuts because I have to estimate now my gas mileage, and like the rest of us I really don't want to get stranded on the side of the road. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated....

Yea from what I hear it a common GM problem. That actual sending unit isnt expensive, only like $30 butits labor that I'm curious about. Im going to have it checked out this week and I'll let you know if you want.....thanks for the input now atleast I have a direction to go in...

I think that on the newer models the sending unit and the pump are combined, that why they are so expensive.
