Default Does your car's fuel gauge do this?

94, V6, 130k miles. Hasn't been on the road for 4 years. I bought it 2 years ago and picked away at the necessary repairs including a complete engine overhaul. Yesterday I sold my Astro beater van, insured the Camaro, and transferred the van registration plates. We're rolling. Woo-hoo!
Filled the tank this afternoon for the first time and was surprised to see the fuel gauge needle look like this. Is it normal to go beyond the F with a topped off tank?

yeah pretty sure all the 4th gens do that. also the gas tank is tapered so when it says you have half a tank left its really a lot less. i learned this the hard way.

Thanks for the feedback. With 130k miles on the original fuel pump I know I'll be dropping the tank soon. If the sender was screwy I'd replace that too but it looks like that won't be necessary.

when you do go to replace the fuel pump, there is an easier way than to drop everything, as long as you dont mind cutting a hole in your trunk. did it last night in about 4 hours this way.

yes your gage is good. dont be surprised if you run out of gas somewhere between 1/4 and 1/8th tank. some 4th gens will go to e but some will run out at 1/4. so maybe carry a can of gas when it gets down to 1/4 and let it run out, so you know were emty is.
