Default Fuel Gauge Calibration

My fuel gauge needle goes past full, and slowly comes down to the full line after about 70 miles, then it of course goes down quickly. I replaced my pump a while back, but it did it before to. Any ideas how to fix it?

wow i get like 110 on mine before it starts its dive to e. its the tank and float design that causes this and all 4th gens have the same design. my last 4th gen ran out of gas at 1/8th and this one goes till it touches e, just barely. and it goes from 1/4 to e really fast.

If even you have this problem, there is no hope. My actual half tank is right above where 3/4 should be.

Yeah, there is no fixing it. Mine fills up way after F and takes forever to actually start going down until it gets to 3/4. Then at 3/4 it plummets, but I've had mine on E for about 25 miles and didn't run out so at least I know it reads accurate that low lol

The float stops rising before the tank is full... All fuel tanks do this, some worse than others. I get almost 120 miles before mine moves then only another 150-200 miles before I am on E. My wife's car is about the same but the mileage for her is less than mine is.

I can't remember ever having a car that didn't do this. The gauge going beyond full and hanging there for a while has always been a pretty normal occurrence for me. You get your best gas mileage (if following the needle) right after a full tank.

i have the same problem now my self. The funny thing about it is that when i had the 3.4 in my car my gauge hung high but read right. now that i have the lt1 in the car the gas gauge doesn't read right. considering every thing is the same except the pump which doesn't related to the reading and the gauge cluster my guess would be that its in the gauges cluster.
