Default Exhaust questions

I figured as long as the trans is off, now would be the best time to put some longtubes on. I was wondering if I should do a typical cat-back setup (I found a new magnaflow kit on ebay for $400), or if I should have an exhaust shop do a custom true dual setup. I'm new to the LT1 scene, so I appreciate the help.

If you have the money to go ahead and get True Duals, Then do it, you will get much better performance this way... Although I got my MagnaFlow kit from Ebay, Probably the same kit but for 3rd Generation Camaros, and it turned out nice and sounds amazing. Hope this helps

Duals do sound sooo much better but I lost a little bit of clearance with mine (of course I half assed mine) If I had it to do all over again I would of just got a generic ebay catback.. Less power but def. much nicer on trips.

You will loose clearance of the diameter of the pipe for true dual. Depending on how strict your emission laws are will really make the difference of what you do. If they are not strict than get some long tubes into an ORY and from there just run into a single larger pipe so you do not loose clearance and at the same time hop up performance. Even if you run two duals one large single pipe can help just as much. For any normal LT1 engine a 2.5 inch single pipe is just fine. Going any bigger will not help any more.
