Default Some Exhaust Questions...

hello, I am planning on getting a v8 camaro probably 99-02 in the near future. V-8 SS

I have some questions about the exhaust.

I noticed with my research that from the engine it goes into the cat and then runs back into a muffler and has 2 pipes coming out of that muffler for dual exhaust. Now this is not "true" dual exhaust i know.. But how much crapier is it going to sound than true dual exhaust, if i put a flowmaster 40 on it...and also how much of a diff do you think it will make sound wise with a highflow cat?

Is it possible / do they have some setups to where you can put true dual exhaust on 99-02 camaros? Perhaps with headers, even if you have to put a couple of high flow cats on...or is there not enough room under the car / you would bottom out easily... if so what do you think it would cost to convert?

I am trying to get an idea of what this exhaust setup is gonna sound like. As a good comparison I used to have an 84 Monte Carlo SS where it Y's off after the cat into 2 exhaust tubes. I had a hollowed cat and glass packs.....it was a 305HO.......any ideas what a 99-02 camaro 350 w/ flowmaster and highflow cat would sound like compared to this setup?

My concern is having a decent sound to the exhaust and it being able to breath properly

it will sound good with the muffler and high flow cats, and stock exhaust isnt a bad sound just quieter then true, all u really need is a good cat-back exhaust system screw mufflers and go straight pipe check out the slp loud mouth 1 cat back system if u want a mean sounding car thats wat i have(if u have e-missions then check out the rules for exhaust mn has no e-missions thnk god), u can run true dual u just need to have a shop do it, not sure if u can get true i live in mn an shops will only do a h/x pipe for u. there is anof room under there but u need to be careful if u get the true dual pipes for scraping them on stuff justa f.y.i... and the ls1 is 98-02 not 99-02 just to let u know.. cant forget 98 man lol.

You can fit a true dual, but it's not going to benefit you anymore than a good 3 inch cat back unless you dump it before it goes over the axel. An exhaust that it's "true dual" doesn't sound crappy...it's just a slight bit quieter. If you want some sound references, you can ceck out www.ls1sounds.com
