engine problem

Default engine problem

i have a 97 z28 with the lt1 we installed coil packs and did away with the opti. wev had the car for close to two years and no major problems but know the car is acting up it seems to run fine some days and othetrs it will kill on us it idels fine and revs fine in park but when your drivimg after it warms up if u get in to it it will pop to or three times and die some times the starter will ingauge it self when it dies i hooked it to the ob2 and pulled up a bad tps sensor and changed it then it said something like manufactor ignition malfunction but the car runs good till u get over 2grand and if u punch it the car will sputter than die i was thinking a fuel pump but dont know any ideas

Which ignition system did you go with, there were only two that I know of. The LTCC (LS1 coil type) is still around, but the other isn't. Either one still retains the optispark unit for the optical reading, and in your case (newer style), the crank positioner. If your original opti has or had an issue with the optics giving you a low or high frequency signal error, then the conversion wouldn't have solved that problem. Is your SES light on, or has it ever flashed on?

its my cousins car but i know the guy he got it from i was looking at it today and it looks like the opti is still there. but i havent seen that light come on but its getting so bad that u could just be driving like keeping the rpms under 2000 and it just dies i can turn the key off and on sometimes will start it backfires like its retarding the timimng do u think the cranksensor could be bad or its the opti? i never thought about a crank sensor but its not realy giving me any codes. thats a nice camaro you have i have a 68 firebird shes ruff but i got it while i could they are hard to fined but thanks for info
