Default **MODS Done Yourself**

I wana mod my cam and I would like to start with ignition/fuel/exhaust so I need to know how hard is it to change the plugs and wires in a lt1 cam? Is it better to go from the top or get it on a lift and go from the bottem? Also I want to upgrade to MSD but HOW HARD IS IT TO CHange the optispark?? Is it hard to unbolt and set the timing on it??

Have fun. Plugs are easier from the bottom. I suggest ACDelco Rapidfire plugs.

Correction: some of the plugs are easier from the bottom.

Don't change the opti unless you have to, it's not a simple job because the Opti is pretty hard to access. The MSD isn't going to get you any performance increase anyway, especially on an otherwise stock or bolt-on car.

My bad, never fooled with an LT1, just talking from experience with my old 3.8 and horror stories from my friends.

agreed. leave the ignition alone untilyou HAVE to swap it. do LT headers make the plug swap easier for u guys like they do for the ls1? if so i would recommend it lol. the ls1 plugs were such a pain id pay the 1 time 500 bucks to never have to do it again

Headers made some of mine easier and some of them harder. The primaries of my headers run almost exactly over the top of some of my plugs so I can't get a regular plug wrench on them.

I would say it made it easier to change. Not so much removing the plug, but just being able to see the plugs

LT headers FTW on the LT1. THe plugs that you can't use a ratchet, simply put the socket on the plug and use an open end wrench. I can change the plugs on the passenger side in about 15 minutes now (after it's on the ramps) as opposed to hours before.
