Default Distrubtor pricing

So I sadly just got the phone call that my distributor is dead. If a mechanic called you and gave you a quoted price what would you expect it to be? What is the most you would pay for this job?

I take it you're asking because you just got sticker shock? I did my own, so didn't pay for labor. But considering how long it took as compared to how long it really should have taken (I took my time degreasing engine, etc.), plus the cost of a new opti, I'm throwing in a bid of somewhere in the neighborhood of $800~900.

getting a proper distributor which would pretty much be a GM unit(i own a parts store and i'm saying this), expect to pay about 450 bucks for a new one...then on top of that labor so i'd be willing to agree with 69's first bid of 8-900 bucks

Well I think tax was added on but we are looking at $949. Pretty sick seeing its a 94z I got a year ago for $3k... kinda messes up my winter plans for it. I'm buying a truck next week and was going to invest some decent money into the car. Now I'm debating selling it come spring to upgrade. Such a hard spot.
