so i noticed something a little odd today first starting in the morning. The factory alarm/keyless entry went off about four times today sounding the horn while i was at work. i could hear it from the office so i went outside and just disarmed it. i work at a Sprint retail store so traffic in the retail plaza is always full and figured it had to do something with that. well this evening after replacing the thermostat (trying to cure an overheating problem), i decided to call in the night and continue tomorrow when there was more natural light. well i armed the alarm as usual but this time the horn sounded off twice in a series of beeps about 7 seconds after arming it (not the normal "im armed/doors locked" chime beep. it was the same steady two beep tone as if the vehicle alarm had been set off. but it only beeped twice. i figured something was up with the alarm so i unarmed it, opened the doors and manually locked the doors. i shut the door, (did not arm the alarm with the key fob) and about seven seconds later the same two beep horn alert sounded.

anyone have an idea why?
please take into consideration that i just purchased this 96 z/28 two weeks ago and am still learning its funny habits.

so just now, from my apartment i heard the alarm go off again. no one/nothing around. damn thing is getting anoying

 

I have a 94 and today I was at the driving range when the alarm randomly went off. I was 10 feet away from my car btw. So i was like, whatever...then tonight I get home and press the lock button and like 2 seconds later it beeped. I have had my car for 2 years and never has it beeped...then 5 mins later, it went off again. I go out there...unlock it, relock it and it didnt beep...so i was like ok...then it goes off AGAIN! SO i said screw it and left it unlocked and it just woke me up at 1 in the morning. It went off while unlocked! So I dont know what the problem is, but were in the same boat...ill letcha know what I find out. Also if you figure it out, lemme know so i can do the same

Do you guys have factory sterio units in your car? Maybe that might be the problem. Mine just started doing the alarm thing too i put the key in the car started it and so far (10 min) it has not done it again
