The rod length makes no difference in stroke length. Your crank has a longer stroke by about 1/4". Hopefully you have changed the pistons, otherwise they will now crash into the heads.

I believe that typicially shorter rods are used with stroker cranks. The extra stroke must be compensated for in some way either with the rods or the pistons, or a little bit of both.

Come on, give me a little more credit than that. I went with Wiseco's .30 over, 3.75 stroke, 5.7 rod, -5.4cc Pistons. I just hope that my camshaft has a small base circle to clear the rods. I opted to install a stud girdle rather than weaken the block splaying it!Name:  100_1352.jpg

How do you tell if this crank is forged 4340 steel?

Well how come they have a different crank listed for a 6in rod than a 5.7in?

Yes the pistons' wrist pin height is a little higher to compensate for the stroke!

weaken the block by splaying? that makes the block a lot stronger.................

Well the webbing in this block is the weak link. Straight four bolt mains are stronger than splayed. It is very light even for an iron block. I am going with a stud girdle to keep them from walking.

I installed my old bearing halves before setting the crank in the block. I noticed my old bearing were very scored up. Do you think it will be O.K. resting on the block like that for a while?
