Converting stock 97 z28 hood with ss
I just baught a 97 z28 and was wanting to replace the stock hood with ss hood. nothing is wrong with the hood just like the ss hood alot n got a lil cash left over. I was just wonderin if i got the hood would I have to repaint the whole car. The paint on the car is still in nice condition for its age. It was well kept and kept clean. No flaws what so ever and didnt want to have to paint it if it didnt need it. It is a special order of red from the factory. I think more than likely it will come out 2 diff shades of red bc of age diff but I was hopen I was wrong. Only 17 and dont know a whole lot about paint.
No you dont have to repaint the whole car. They can just match the paint, with the stock color, and blend it together. I was quoted at 250 at one place and 350 at another to do it. Just do some research before you get it painted, it varies alot price wise from one shop to another. And the quality varies. Maybe ask to look at photos of other projects they have done, or go to a place with a good reputation.
yea ive been wanting to do the same thing my car is redwith black t topsand i found an ss hood fiberglass with a carbon fiber scoop its nice...supposebly they fit nice without hoodpins and all that,
yup, the one i got is fiberglass and does not need pins, mine is black, i'm going to install a new front bumper and i'm thinking about getting the scoop painted silver gray, or maybe red dunno , but defenetly i'll paint the scoop so it can stand out more, they look nice man, and agressive i like it more and then the actuall ss hood.
