Might be a long shot...but is the replacement engine a 1996 or newer? In 96, GM added an additional crank sensor to the LT1 that mounts into the timing chain cover. If yours is m.i.a., that would be a problem.

Hello sorry was out for a few days, I got the engine out of a 97 firebird at a junk yard, but it didn't have the sensor on the timing chain cover, so I replaced it with the cover from the engine I pulled out of mine

I was able to take it to get tested for emissions, but they could not finish the test because apparently my rear breaks are not working ( I imagine that's why the break light was on) the car had not been move for about 3 years before replacing the engine, I did not see any break fluid leaks or damaged break likes, if my break pedal is not stopping my rear tires, where should I begin checking? thanks

The brake master has a proportioning valve on it, check that. First place would be the brake calipers or if you have drums on the back. Check those out and see if you can bleed calipers if equiped.

try bleeding some fluid from the front brakes. it does however say to apply 450 lbs of pressure to the brake peddle to reset but after fixing problem.

I don't have the manual with me at the moment but I remember reading on it that it requires a special tool called tech 1 or something like that to bleed the breaks, how can I bleed the breaks if I don't have that tool handy? I have disk breaks on all 4 wheels. About how much is 450 lbs. Of hydraulic pressure?

yah you just dont want to get to carried away on one wheel. may throw the abs off. i dont know what it takes to get 450 lbs of pressure in the brake lines, im assuming once you get everything fixed and push hard enough on the peddle the light goes off. its worked for at least one guy one here that i know of.
