Default 96 z28 383 stroker wont start

I have been searching around on the forums for a problem similar to mine and cant seem to find any. My camaro will not start all the time but it will fire up radomly. When it doesnt start i have fuel pressure i have compression but i am not getting any spark from the coil. I have replaced the distributor, the ignition module, the coil, the crankshaft positioning sensor. But it will start randomly. My alternator is good and so is my battery. I checked my grounds and they all were well connected and my security light goes off when i put the key in. If i had a short could i put a tester up to the grounds and see if i am reading any voltage from them to locate an area of a short? I just dont know where to look now i am very stumped any help that anyone could offer would be great thankyou.

I am sure it is timed right cuz when it does start the car runs beautiful as if there are no problems and it will run all day even with me turning it on and off, but when it sits over night i come out to find in the morning that the starters turns the engine over, i have fuel pressure, but just no spark.

Short answer to the above is no. If you have a short, you are not looking for voltage, but rather a lack of voltage in conjunction with a very high current draw.

It is possible that you have a broken wire or connector somewhere in your ignition circuit. Something that occasionally makes contact and allows the car to start and run.

I'd start with scanning for codes when it doesn't start. It may be setting a code that can help track down your problem.

i type to slow

intermitant problems suck. did you change the opti before or after the problem started? what kind of opti. did you change the whole thing or just cap and rotor? are you getting power to the coil and ignition coil modual when it wont start? are you getting power to the ignition switch and is power coming out of it?
have you seen these? for a 93 but the tests should be same for yours.

it would be a good idea for you to pick up a factory shop manual for your year. i think the 96 is a two book yr.
