Disable (better yet, remove) the alarm. If the alarm malfunctions, you won't get any power to the purple wires, which will prevent your starter solenoid from engaging with the key.

Non-factory alarms can cause all sorts of strange things when they go bad. I had a very old Viper alarm on mine when I got it, and it worked great for a few days, and then it started acting up. Sometimes it would crank and at other times it would not. Sometimes the door would unlock with the remote, and at other times - nothing. I checked the ignition switch, VATS and every fuse that I could find. But like I said, sometimes it would fire and other times it would act like the key was never turned. Removed the alarm and set the wiring back to factory and everything miracuously was fixed.

that should be fun ,looks like it's wired into a bunch of different things. I did confirm no power to it though. (At least what i could find of it).

I honestly don[t like alarms that can disable your car for this very reason. Although, I don't think it would fIRE at all if that was activated. i'll get rid of if anyway.

Can anyone confirm those PNP readings? It seems to me it should be reading P/N in Park and Neutral instead of R/DL in Park and Neutral... But I don't actually know and i'm having a hard time finding the info.

Anyone have an Actron scanner they can throw on their car and cycle the shifter to see if mine is correct?

FINALLY got this crap fixed. After reading what seemed like hundreds of pages of wiring schematics and pulling the alarm system, I was finally able to find the wires I need. The problem was a malfunction in one of the boxes (of the like 5 there were), I jumped the wires together and tried the key and it worked.

I've never dealt with such a mess but at least I can clean most of it up now. Here's a pic of what it looked like after I found the problem, was a lot of work to get to that point:

Good to hear that you found the problem. Aftermarket alarms are more trouble than they are worth IMHO. If the vehicle comes from the factory with an alarm, you can bet that the engineers put some effort into making it work properly with the rest of the car.

Aftermarket alarms on the other hand, are designed to be a "one size fits all" solution, and I personally believe that they are more complex than necessary. That and if the installer makes a mistake, your new alarm could potentially cause all sorts of problems that are nearly impossible to correct.
