Default '94 camaro LT1 auto oil leak-pressure drop

Hey Gents,

I have recently purchased this auto. Now there is a oil pressure drop from 55-60psi at start up to 10-15psi, once driving 15 minutes. Oil leak at both sides of the trans, some findings it way in to the catalytic converter. Have cleaned and checked the usual spots, oil pan gasket, valve covers. Car is still leaking-loosing pressure. Recently changed oil, 10-30W synthetic with heavy duty fram filter. Have seen some threads, what is the opti? Looking for ideas as to where the leaks originate, enough to loose pressure.

my first guess would be the intake manifold gasket. the front and rear gasket on the intake is known for leaking. not sue which fram u have but there are a couple fram filters that dont work well so that may be something to try changing. a oil leak will not cause a loss of oil pressure unless of course the oil is all gone. opti is the distributor and is under the water pump.

TIG- please elaborate. Is the 15 that you are reporting when at idle and the engine is warm or is it when you are turning 2k rpms and higher? Oil pressure does drop once the engine warms but you should not be at 15 when driving at higher rpm's

is it motor oil or is it auto tranny fluid? if oil, then when the motor is cold, climb into the engine bay and hug that LT1 and feel all around the rear to see if you have a leak from the intake manifold, feel everywhere you can to see from where the leak originates.

I also asked a question within the above quote

Where does the pressure read at cruising speeds? The auto trans should shift into overdrive at 45 (1500 rpm), but engine oil pressure should remain reletively high once the engine is hot. The manual says that operating pressures between 20 and 80 psi are normal. Fluctuation in pressure is normal. Drain the oil out and get some LUCAS for it. That will help with any leaks and should raise oil pressure a little bit. Not to mention it will keep the engine from frying if the pressure drops too low.
