4th gen tranny question
The other day someone was telling me that 4th gen camaros with the LT1 have a feature that causes them to shift from 1st to 4th at low RPM's on the six speeds. Now I could understand that on an automatic, but on a manual transmission? Just wondering if it was true or not.
There is an electronic interlock that keeps you from shifting from 1 to 2 to 3 unless a certain amount of throttle is applied. There are kits available to bypass all that nonsense.
It really is the opposite. The factory setting wants (forces you) to skip gears in order to save gas. This only happens at part throttle. The kit bypasses the factory skip shift feature and allows you to shift any way you please. Including dropping into first at 100MPH and blowing the engine.
