i have a 1997 z28 and my gear shifter wont go into 1st gear. there is like a clip a piece of plastic that stops it from going into 1st gear. does anyone know if that is normal or not? thanks for your help i also have a 1997 rs with a 6 cylinder and that gear will go into 1st. thanks again

 

I'm not understanding what you're talking about. Snap a pic of it and see if someone can figure it out and describe it with as much detail as possible.

 

my 94 T/A did the same thing and when i asked a mechanic what to do he said give it hell for a day or two. so, i called a few buddies and asked them to race me. of course they all said yes because i was missing 1st and 3rd gear. by the third race it popped right into gear and ive never had a problem since.
