Had the 93 Z28 out today and was running it pretty hard out on the back roads. I noticed that under hard acceleration from a dead stop, the car will pull first gear till it hits the rev limiter and will not hit second gear till you let off. The trans shifts perfectly other than that and has no problems grabbing second if not @WOT. I would like to get this fixed as its not going to help this summer at the track. Does it have to do with the kick down cable adjustment? Mods on it include JET performance stage 2 chip, full exhaust with offroad "Y", K&N CAI, and no cat. Car has just under 90k on the odometer, trans fluid flushed and filter changed within the last month. While I'm at it, has anyone installed a PCMforless chip in their lightly modded LT1s?? I would like to swap out the JET and go with one of theirs if they are as good as everyone claims. Thanks for the time!!

 

Try resetting the TV cable, if that doesn't work see atransmission shop. The car has a 700r4/4L60 transmission that is not computer controlled, so the engine mods should have no effect on shift points.

 

Thanks for the reply Pete! Any suggestions on how to reset the TV cable? I know on my 82 chevy pickup there is a slide that can be moved back and forth to adjust the pressure. The one on the Camaro looked similar but not the same.I guess I can read the manual too.

Anyone got anything on the PCMforless tune??

I pushed in the reset tab and slid the slider all the way back (towards the firewall) untill it stopped, then released the tab and rotated the throttle all the way open. The slider ratcheted out about 1 click and was done. Hope that does the trick. I will test drive tomorrow.
