ok, lets see if I can get some help from the pros! My Z28 run and shifts fine when you are driving normal. When you first start it up, the RPMs will go way low, acting like its going to die, then after a few seconds it brings the RPMs back up and runs fine. Also when I accelearte hard, the car hesitates at high RPMs before shifting. Any idea on what the problem might be? Im going to replace the plugs this weekend, but I dont think thats what it is. IDK tho, this is my first camaro.

check the plug wires while your doin the plugs. has the opti ever been replaced?

 

I believe the opti has never been replaced, but I have been reading up on this. Is there a way to look at it and tell if it is bad?

 

no not really. if the car runs then everything will check out on the opti and thats if u have the equipment to test it. the optic reader is what goes i guess. when mine was going i took it out and opened it to find rust on anything metal. how many miles on the car? i think 130k is about the average give or take 25k. lol. anyway if u take it apart so u can look at it then u might as well replace it. and the water pump as far as that goes. i was very surprised the first time i looked under the hood for the distributor. finally found a plug wire and followed it. lol.

 

lol well if around 130k is when they go, I guess mine is gone. I have 162k on the car. lol Ill let you know what happens when I change the plugs. Ill go ahead and replace the wires as well. Thanks for the info!
