Default Performance Opinions Plz!

Alright guys check out my sig and tell me if my car is faster than a stock ls1. People are telling me I'm losing hp at the rear wheel cause of the mods up front for the flywheel and all this other junk. Am I losing power at the dig? at the roll? what?? thanks guys

I don't believe opening up the restrictive factory exhaust and intake would cause you to lose horsepower at all. By ram air im guessing you mean the free ram air mod? I would say you gained about 10-15 horsepower if anything.

i think they may be referring to the flowmaster cat back. its not the tubing or anything its the muffler, flowmaster is notorious for being loud, but they do it by making a bunch of chambers that acoustically enhance sound, but in actuality they restrict the exhaust flow, even still ,

its no biggie, you can get the muffler removed and get a magnaflow performance muffler, their philosophy is WIDE OPEN technology, they dont use any chambers, you can see right through the muffler.

I doubt you really lost any hp, but porting the MAF is completely uneeded at this point and could in theory lose a couple of HP. THe stock MAF is a great unit and should not be touched untill your making over 400 rwhp.

i agree with shaker... I've always been anti-flowmaster. I would go with Magnaflow or Hooker Aerochambers.

Thanks guys, I didn't think I lost hp. I realized AFTER I ported my MAF that the stock one was worth 400 hp. Stupid me... anyways, I went for a cruise up to the city today, I love driving on the highway with the maro So relaxing... Came back to town and I guess we are hosting some big car show this weekend. There was tons of "hooked up" cars and trucks rollin up and down the strip which is unusual cause I live in a small town. Anyways it was funny cause every car that was passing I was like, I'm faster than him, I'm faster than him, I'm faster than him hahaha it was awesome. Most of the vehicles were bagged trucks or riced out neons, cobalts, and hondas... Makes me have much more appreciation for my car

Just give em a good slap. However, the flowmaster will hold you back a tad. Put a better catback on or a cutout. I am all for doign it all the way longtubes, ORY, etc but if money doesn't call for it then by all means get a cutout. Making horsepower is about generating airflow efficiently and reducing pumping losses. I dont see why any of that would make you lose HP persyay but maybe not as quick as it could be be it on a dyno or street becasue of the flowmaster.

Im not at all saying it didnt help. But they dont help the most. The catback is always the one that flows the most efficiently, which a flowmaster barely does. For instance, the v6 fellows use a stock 02 ss (example) slp muffler because it flows just as good as the standard 80 series flowmaster does. I sell magnaflow all day long to customers we even had one on our shop test vehicle. Performed great.

While that may be true, note that SLP has their upgraded MAF starting at their 375 HP PerformancePac:

SLP Marketing, or SLP Engineering?! That is the question...
