Default manual trans.

hey everyone im new to the forums... and i have a 99 ss.. i like it and all but its an automatic.. i want to either make it a manual or buy a different camaro (probably at a junkyard) and fix it up... i was just wondering what everyone thinks the best, cheapest and easiest would be... i do have another car that i can drive in the time that the transmission is being swaped...

thanks for the help

The swap is easy. Y ou will need a trans, cross memeber, pedals, lines, slave cyclinder and thats about it. You will need a retune of the ECU as well. OR you could put a 3500 rpm stall in your auto and drop about 1/3 second in the 1/4 and make the car a ton more fun. With these cars the autos are alot eaiser to make fast in the 1/4 than the M6.

You have a 4L60E trans, and a stall swap is pretty easy, you have to pull the trans and thats about it.

I like Yank or Precision Industries, Fuddle has good following but I have no personal experiance with them. Figure on spending about $800 for the coverter and another $200 for a TCI flex plate (reccomneded but not 100% needed). The ECU will need tuning with either HP tuners or LS1 Edit to make the shifts hit right and get the most out the converter.
