Well, to have the EGR completely removed, without getting a SES light, you'd have to tune it out of your ECU. After that it's cake! Assuming you're getting an LS6 intake, you'll already have it removed from the intake. All you have left is two bolts on the exhaust manifold, and two bolts holding in onto your head. It comes right off! But, in order to not have an exhaust leak, you'll have to get something to block off where you just removed your EGR from the exhaust manifold. All I did was fabricate a steel plate to put directly over it, and a thicker aluminum plate to go over the steel one. Surprisingly enough, the old EGR gasket served as a good one to use for the block off, with no leaks. It definately looks a lot better under the hood without the EGR there!
As far as the timing goes, I'm not completely sure, but I don't think it would make too much of a difference, if any, because the 2001 and 2002 Camaros don't even have the EGR.
I just never liked the sound of putting your exhaust gas into the intake!
I bought my SS with an LS6 intake on it already, so I'm not sure what the whole deal is about the coolant lines. I do know that mine does have a piece of line that is metal behind the left fan though.

yer i eventuall found a really good write up here, we have (ls1 intake) and X shaped coolant pipe running left to right, front to back. LS6 only use the front crossover.
