450hp is high for boltons only. 450ish bhp is pretty common for cammed cars, but with only boltons I wouldnt expect to see much over 350rwhp which is about 410bhp or so. rough estimates.

but no, the motors do just fine under power. the rear is the only real weak spot

The M6 tends to be harder on rear ends then the 4L60.

i know you didn't spec, i was just saying. and yes cbr, you're correct there. i should probably be looking for a stronger tranny anyway...the rear ends are too damn expensive for me to be thinking about at this point

I agree with spectre.... 450 with bolt ons is just not possible unless its cammed.

The only info I can give about the LS1 that hasn't been said already, is that it went into a corvette 12 years ago........ here we are in 09 and STILL ford has not produced a naturally aspirated mustang with displacement and rear wheel HP numbers that come close to touching the overall specs and down right badass-ness of this world class!......12yr old platform.....what more do you need to know?

Very well said. The 2010 GT with 3 valves is supposed to be producing 315 wheels horses not bad at all. But when you look at a 12 year old platform running a push rod 16 valve engine that produces 1 horse power and 1 torque per cubic inch of displacement you know you have done something right.
