Default issue with main tensioner pulley

i have an 01 ss and recently ive had a screeching metal on metal sound comming directly from the tensioner pulley i replaced the pulley and the belt with a gatorback but i still am getting that noise. im positive its the tensioner i watch the arm move up and down slightly as the belt runs and it makes the noise. any ideas on what to do to reduce the noise it kinda takes away the apeal of the car when sitting at a stoplight or something

A new pulley shouldn't be making any kind of noise like that. Sometimes noises have a way of sounding like it's coming from something other than what you think it is. While the belt was off would have been a good time to give all your other pulleys a good twirl by hand so you could listen to each one separately. The alternator or an A/C clutch would be another one to suspect.
