Default Glasspacks

One of the many of mods I plan on doing to my SS is having glasspacks installed. I believe they provide optimum breathing for the engine and sound pretty bad *** at the same time. I've installed glasspacks on every truck I've ever owned but never on a car before, just thought I would see what others opinions were. As far as the name brands go (flowmaster, magnaflow, borla, etc.) I believe that's buying a name and have never really been happy with the sound or performance with any of them.

as far as differences between the brands go w/glasspacks i don't think the sounds/performance between them would be very different seeing as how glasspacks are just "lean" one chamber mufflers i think they would all accomplish the same thing, but that's just my guess. if its a nice rumble/loudness your looking for i'd suggest just taking the muffler out, it did a world of good on my setup as far as sound goes in my opinion as well as getting rid of any restriction a muffler/glasspack would produce. but then again the restriction would be minimal if anything

If you like the sound use them. They are basically a straight pipe with holes in it. Just get good quality ones, as the fiberglass collect moisture which then causes rust.

i know there not glass packs but dynomax bullets are suppost to be good restriction free mufflers ( if you can call then that) they make the soun every so slightly deeper to what it would be with a pipe instead of muffler

I got a glasspack on my 99. I sounds great. When my wife takes the car I can hear her 4 blocks away. I should probably add, I have no cats and longtube headers.

I use the dynomax straight bullet mufflers too. Its straight piping with some very small hard rubber "bumps" lining the inside. Sounds great! of course let ME add...lol....that I have no cats...a true dual X pipe (dumped), LTs and a very aggressive cam! Its very loud and I love it!
