What is the stock gears that come with an 02 SS? In the previous topic I had open I got the idea that it was 2.73 gears, but I have a Diablo Trinity tuner and when I am sitting there idling it is showing 3.05 ratio. Is this what I have then? Thanks.

 

Do you have an auto or manual? All Manual cars came with 3.42. Autos had 2.73 with an option of 3.08 (might have been 3.23).

I have an auto. And yes im sorry i was wrong the programmer is showing 3.08 so that must be what I have.

 

It could also be a 3.23

 

You should be able to look at the RPO code located on the inside of the driver's side door jam.


GU2 = 2.73
GU4 = 3.08
GU5 = 3.23
GU6 = 3.43
G80 Rear limited slip

 

You can upgrade for cheap though

 

You can buy the gears from anywhere for like $225. You need to specify 2 or 3 ring carrier. I believe all 2.73,3.08 and 3.23 are all 2 ring carriers, while all the rears that came with the 3.42s, were 3 ring carriers.
