Clicking noise in the engine!!!!!!!

Exclamation Clicking noise in the engine!!!!!!!

Hello guys I have a 2001 camaro z28 ls1 with 80,000k on the motor. Last week i noticed a clicking noise when it idles. But when you drive you cant even hear it. Just changed the oil thinking it needed new oil. But still makes the noise. What do you guys think please get back thanks.

it could just be the hydraulic lifters (tappets) that arnt quite full on idle so they tick a bit, nothing to worry about really and if it goes away when you rev the lifter pump up fine. listen to a DOHC car, they are always ticking away at the top end. Frequent oil changes prevent the proble but if you oil that came out was like tar then they can inhibit tapets filling at low rpms due to lower pressure. anyways drive the car for 100 miles then change oil again see if it helps.

Try running some Marvel Mystery Oil in your oil. One quart of MMO to 4 quarts of oil. It COULD be an exhaust leak as well.
