Camshaft question?
I have been looking into cams for my 2002 camaro ss.i've been reading up on the gm hot cam,and both the (2001)ls6 cam 385hp & the (2002/04)ls6 cam 405hp.has anybody used any of these cams in there camaro's,if so some feed back on the idle and drivability would be great. Any other cam suggestions would greatly help my search for the right cam.more or less a cam swap & springs is what i'm after.i realize the 2002/2006 ls6 cam will require longer push rods also according to what i've read.

i dont have a cam yet, but have been researching for a year or so.
what are the specs on the cams you mention above, i thing the hot cam is 218/228 @0.050 or something with 0.525 lift??
usually the baseline or popular cams for people who dont want to get into it too much are the likes of tr224, tr228R etc tr224= 224/224 @ 0.050 with 0.568/0.568 lift (comp xer lobes)
what other mods do you have and are you an auto or manual??

I have done a bunch of research and talked to the guy's down at vengeance racing and they got me squared away on what cam to go with.the reason why i contacted them is they were involved in building the camaro super cars which came from gmmg.matt murphy started the company in 1999 in conjuction with chevrolet in producing these high performanc cars for berger,**** harrell, dei intimidator cars, along with the blackbird.after a lengthy conversation with ron at vengeance he cam up with the (vrx-3 cam package)which is 226/228 .585 in .585 ex 114 lsa.springs and pushrods are in this package.i also purchased the opened chamber gmmg exhaust.if you've never checked out the websites here they are. (gmmg inc.com) & vengeanceracing.com.

Yea,i have a manual tranny.i ordered the cam late friday my only concern is i went with the 918 springs.they should suffice for what i'm doing.i might take the car once maybe twice to norwalk speedway, but i'm not beating the crap out of it.sometimes just knowing you can flat out get it is as much fun as doing it.i'm also 43 years old and probally wouldn't be saying that 20 years ago.i would appreciate any input from anyone on the springs.if i want to change i'll have to call first thing monday mourning to change.thanks.

the 918 are rated to 0.600" so they should be fine, only thing to remember is that you should check them every few thousand mile just to be safe, but this is the same for any aftermarket spring and cam set ups
