Default ? about heads

I have searched and found nothing that answers my question so here it goes. I have a stock 02 SS and I want to replace the stock heads. Are there any suggestions as to which ones I need to get. Ummm what are some I could get that all I have to do is bolt them in without a cam and would I have to replace valves and pushrods all that jazz. What would be a good combustion chamber size and intake runner size. Thanks in advance for any help.

You could either go to Texas speed,s websit at http://texas-speed.com, or you could call them up and they will be happy to answer any questions and tell you which head you should get. But my question is why are you gonna get heads and not a cam???

You will get almost nothing by going with bigger heads and no cam, maybe 10 rwhp. The factory LS1 heads are a great design, infact they are the best flowing head ever produced by GM (untill the C5R and LS7 heads cam out). They will handle over 400 rwhp in stock form. Get a decent cam now (with all the supporting hardware) and then do heads later on down the road. It's cheaper and will get more power.

I guess gettinga ca mwould make alot more since. Now that I know the truth. The performance shop I went to close to my house must have lied just to get my businessTHANKS ALOTfor saving me thatmoney before I spent it on something that won't even be worth it. If my car is to be an everyday driver what kind of cam should I use for mid-high range power. Thanks again

I would advise you to call Texas Speed and get thier advice on what cam you want. You will need push rods and valve springs as well, but it will still come out to be a ton cheaper and give you more power. In the future if you want more power then add the heads.

If your car is going to be a daily DON'T jump into a big cam.

I think you would be very happy with a mid range, TSP's 228R camon a 112 lsa for a choppy idle or 114 for a smoother, I think would be right up your alley. Alot of people have this cam and are very happy, its a proven and capable cam. With power from 1600 - 6400 rpm's. But there are lots of choices, do your homework and get what you want.
