Question 99 computer

can i put a 99 ss computer in my 98

its an ls1 i have an 99 ss computer with wiring harness but i have an 98 ls1
i dont see an diff between them both

if the outer casing look the same then you can do it. If you put the pcm on the floor with the fins facing upright it shoud have 2 fins on it at either side its a 99:

but can i put the computer out of a 99 ss camaro in to my 98 z28 or do i need to change the harness

my point was if it looks the same it is the same ecu! simple swap.

If the two you have dont look the same they are not the same ecu's so you cant swap them, unless you change all the wiring?

Why do you want to change?

i have a 99 computer. i just want to know if i can do that for i tune it easier. because i see that there is more tuners for a 99 than there is for a 98. so since i had the computer all ready i thought i could put the computer in my car.

but thank u for helping me i just started with the ls1 this is my first ls1

from what i know when i started to look into the efilive tuner for myself was that for some reason the 98 was a different tune to the 99. However some later 98 models have the 99 style ecu ( top pic). Just investigate which your looks like in the car, be sure it is a 98 or a 99. My car is registered as a 99, but build date it actually dec 98 so is 99 spec. hope this helps
