if the outer casing look the same then you can do it. If you put the pcm on the floor with the fins facing upright it shoud have 2 fins on it at either side its a 99:
if your is like the one below, here this is a 98 and wont fit and the tune is different:

my point was if it looks the same it is the same ecu! simple swap.
If the two you have dont look the same they are not the same ecu's so you cant swap them, unless you change all the wiring?
Why do you want to change?

i have a 99 computer. i just want to know if i can do that for i tune it easier. because i see that there is more tuners for a 99 than there is for a 98. so since i had the computer all ready i thought i could put the computer in my car.
but thank u for helping me i just started with the ls1 this is my first ls1

from what i know when i started to look into the efilive tuner for myself was that for some reason the 98 was a different tune to the 99. However some later 98 models have the 99 style ecu ( top pic). Just investigate which your looks like in the car, be sure it is a 98 or a 99. My car is registered as a 99, but build date it actually dec 98 so is 99 spec. hope this helps
