I have a 98 Z28 Automatic..Engine was rebuilt 7 years ago and runs great...but..over the past 2 years when I floor it, it sometimes sounds like it backfires, putters and the engine shuts off...the car starts to fly than shuts down..I have to pop it in neutral and crank the ignition and it turns back on, but driving at a high rate is a little freaky when your car shuts down and the wheel gets tight....it doesnt always happen, but enough where i finally have to fix this...my fuel pump just went on me, so could this be the problem...any feedback would be appreciated...THANKS!!!

Did u already replace the pump?
