Default '02 Z28 Service Engine Soon Light

I have a 2002 6-speed Z-28 with no mods other than a flowmaster exhaust. The SES light came on when I got stuck driving through the rain. Went to autozone and the code came up as P1416 and listed reasons as: 1)Air pump electrical circuit fault 2)Blocked air system 3)Failed air pump. It has been rainy and gross up here in Mass for a little while but today is nice and the light turned off. The service manual says that water in a connection can make the SES light turn on. My question is; should I leave her alone or replace the air pump?

Thanks,
Andrew

As the saying goes if it aint broke don't fix it; if the car is runing fine and the light is not on then i would not worry about it

Leave it alone. When I read codes for my cusomers I usually clear them and if the code does not come on after I restart the engine I tell them to wait and see if it comes back. If so then take the problem serious. So if you get the same code again then look at the connections, pump, hoses and all that good stuff.

that pump is behind the foglight area, water can go in there easy if your headlamps arent lined up right with your bumper right. ^ +1 clear it and drive

Air Pump is emisions-only related... no other benefit -- many remove them when installing headers.
