Third Gen True Dual Exhaust
I have a 1984 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta with a 383 and aluminum head and etc. Not the motor that matters here but have a question and need I ideas for my dual exhaust. My long tube come in close to my trans and the frame. the S bend needed is about impossible and thus the best clearence I can currently can get is about 3-4 inches. Anyone else have encountered this problem help me find a solution or ideas i can give a muffler shop let me know. Thanx

P.S. It is not Impossible I have seen it just never had any way to get ahold of the people that owned the vehicles. And they ran down each side not just one side.

what diameter are your tubes, are you trying to run the exhaust behind the rear axle, or terminating it beforehand? i know that there is much more room behind rear axle, but you must get the dual tubing over the rear axle, and, according to a muffler guy i spoke to, only dual 2" can fit. I figured, though, if you raise the rear end, the axle will be easier to clear, or attempt my hypothetical technique of a small bent x pipe that would fit directly above the axle, both equalizing the exhaust, and making the axle-clearance more possible. On my 83 berlinetta, i am getting single 3" that will terminate before the rear axle, which restricts just as little as true dual 2.5", but, again, the muffler is very difficult to keep out of the way. one way to go is to get 2 nice $50 glasspacks, and run them along the driveshaft, then terminate. however you do it, good luck, and take care of that berlinetta. we owners are a rare few.
