is it ok to run no cat?

ya dude that can deffinetly sound bad ***, but there is also things in regards to health with no cats and wiping out the emissions, the is such thing call nox gas, if your exhaust goes through your cats and its when your combustion chambers reach over 2500 degrees it creates that gas, its not that great to ingest cuz even if you ingest just one small gasp of it it stays with you forever and builds up in you tissues and there is no way to get rid of it, and once it builds up enough it attacks your liver and then moves to all of your other arteries, i know i might sound like some stupid guy that doesn't know what hes talking about, but this is true stuff and i'm sure that most of everyone on this forum agrees with me, cats to some people may be useless but if you have a exhaust leak in your car and you don't even know about it, it'll kill you in no time, its odorless, tasteless, and you obviously can't see it, plus if you get caught taking them off, that could be like a fine of 10k and 5 years in federal prison,in my opinion it would be worth it to keep itin, i know that my opinion probably doesn'tmean much but it might help you or someone else in the long run.

Im assuming by nox gas you were trying to say noxious gas, which is just a blanket term used for semi-hazardous chemical gasses. A leak in your car is very much detectable. you will smell exhaust. and it will not kill you in "no time". this is why people have to close themselves in little garages to commit suicide "by exhaust". You can be on the verge of death and someone opens the door and its all for nothing. U will be puking ur guts out for a couple days once u start to detox, but you will certainly not die, and if u were to try again after the detox it wouldnt take any shorter time to accomplish. This is just the nature of gasses in the body. This is very similar to carbon monoxide poisoning (which actually is undetectable). The gasses inhibit many normal protein and enzymatic functions (like CO competing with O2 for blood). but in a relatively short period of time the body has removed the vast majority of the offending gasses through the skin, urine, or exhilation. The nature of concentrations is just that the less you have the longer it takes to get rid of, but on the flip side, the more u have the faster you get rid of it.
as for the 10k and 5 years, this is a common misconception as well. The fine and jail time applies to shops. If you are a shop owner and you get caught removing cats u are subject to the above. However, if joe schmoe gets caught with no cats or removing them, he may get a small fine, but probably a slip giving him until xx/xx/xxxx to pass emissions before the car is either impounded or at the very least inable to register depending on your state.
a little more:
These gasses are the major components of smog, which is considered medically to be a respiratory irritant. Not deadly. A catalytic converter is simply a catalyst. hence its name. metalic Platinum is a very common catalyst in inorganic reactions. The cats contain platinum (and some might have metals with similar properties.... to reduce cost... not sure) and this allows these nitrogenous gasses a surface on which to react. This reaction takes place normally, but with the introduction of the catalyst plus the confined space of an exhaust tube, it happes on the order of 7-10 times faster.

possibly a defference, it might not be much but you might feel a little get up more than what it was bofore, if i were you, honestly, i would build up a 350 to throw in it, theres not a whole lot to do to v6's i had one in my 81 and after i realized that there was nothing that i could put into it, it was a 4 barrel carb, i just ripped that out and built a 355 small block for it, even a 305 would do it, i've seen 305's pull off some amazing numbers at the track, but i'd just rather have a 350, its always a good idea man.

One of my first posts on here was asking how to do a 350 swap into my camaro, and apparently as i was so "kindly" told was your gonna want to have a Z28 sitting next to your V6 camaro. Pop both the hoods, take everything out of the z28 and place it on the ground, next take everything out of the v6 cam and place it in the old z28's engine bay, then move the v8 and all of its components into the v6's old hole. And magically you have a v6 camaro with a complete 350 swap... So its economically smarter to buy a Z28 or a SS and call it a day.
that is more true if you plan to do a street legal fuel injected v8. alot of 6er guys want to do an lt1 or ls1 swap. and thats a *****. if you want to drop in a big carbed motor you wont have much trouble.
