K&N Air Filter botch up
I think it depends on your setup... if you're using an oval air cleaner and dont have any kind of air induction hood Paper is fine. But from my experience I think the K&N style X-stream air lids work better than a metal top.... more air that just makes sense and im sure there's going to be people that say that there's no difference in a air filter with a metal top or one with a filter as the top. But it just makes sense.it adds 500 CFM of air flow and more air the better. Carbuerators can suck-in tremendous amounts of air compared to fuel injection... I didn't buy the K&N, I got the Summit brand which was exactly the same for 20 dollars less.
You can get on ebay and find these lids for like 20-40 bucks.

well this doesnt pertain to k&n, but when i got my tbi, i ripped out the ****ty air intake all together and put just a 14x3 drop, chrome top air cleaner and THAT made a noticable difference because the stock was a single snorkel that is rigid and small. what it really helps with is from 2000-to red which is 4500, it really sucks in more air. as with the xstream lids. they look interesting but i'd only get one if they were like only $30.
just my two cents.

i just bought a brand new full K&N intake system cone heatshield and all... Know why I bought it? I t was $20 bucks. My mechanic buddy is a manager at advanced auto and they had it as a display model. They were going to throw it out and Ron got it. The Cool thing is it was a display so i can cut into perfect size of my throttle body.theres no precut holes in it... but it is hollow ron checked it out by drilling a small hole into it. I would never pay regular price for K&N. Most cone filters work just as well.... However I must admit I put a K&N Gold Oil filter on the camaro and it increased it's oil pressure and drives like a new car. Used a quart of lucas oil and Castrol GTX high mileage.
