I was wondering if anybody can help me in choosing a set of LONG TUBE HEADERS that would give me 20+ horsepower for my 2001 Camaro SS and if I should get an X or Y pipe along with it (possibly Holley, Edelbrock, etc.). And if possible, to let me know where I can find these headers at and the price. Thanks!

Well, you're out of luck with the X pipe, 'cause you own a Camaro, so if you want to be able to drive it on the roads, you need to run the exhaust through the stock location or you get ground clearance issues. So, I will always fully recomend Kooks headers to people, they come at a price premium, but they are the best quality header I've ever seen. You can get a full LT and Y pipe system from them, it all fits wonderfully too. I personally ordered mine from www.speed-eng.com they sponsor this forum and often times have sales on Kooks stuff.

 

Does anybody know if these headers: (http://www.holley.com/2291-1HKR.asp) would be able to fit my 2001 Camaro SS? Because the descriptions says that it's for "supercharged or big inch versions of the Gen III (LS-6/LS-7) engine." ????? My buddy says they do but I'm not quite sure. If so, where would be a good place (online store with a REASONABLE price) to look for? And what Y- Connector pipe would you suggest for these headers???????

 

Dude, chill with the big font...

They'll bolt up fine, but the primaries will probably be huge. For a street car you won't need huge primaries unless you're running 600+ hp. 1 5/8ths is all the bigger you'll ever need. If you get a set of Hooker headers, get a Hooker Ypipe as well, that way you know it'll all bolt up and fit ok.

If you want a better street header that's for your Camaro(the other hookers may be made for a corvette, in which case they won't fit right, they'd fit on the head, but they won't fit right under the rest of the car), I'd recomend these if you want to go for Hooker headers http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

SS Autochrome and they run $400,00 shipped! But they are looking for someone to do an install and dyno before and after, if you're interested in doing that, they will send you a set for free...
