does it matter if you buy a 3.8L catback but you have a 3.4L or is that a huge difference and a bad decision... just wondering

They are two entirely different engines. I would look into that farther before you make a major purchase.

IMO, my flowmaster cat-back was a great deal.
Its not the most expensive kit you can get, but worth it.
When I saw a few clips of other people's flowmaster cat-backs, it almost made me cringe because it sounded too raspy in the high RPMs.
So alot of the sound depends on the condition of your car, mine has over 88k miles on it but runs great.
Hopefully I can find a decent camera around here and post something for ya =P, other wise I'll have to resort to a phone =(

Hey guys I am forced to get a whole new exhaust system, cat included. On my 80 Camaro the previous owner didn't weld the cat on... and the exhaust eroded so it couldn't even take a smog test. My mechanic is suggesting a full flowmaster system with 2.5in tipped out the back. He is asking for $850 for the parts(cat included), the labor, and taking off the old exhaust. I have no clue about exhaust, how good does that sound?

I'm not sure if the '80 Camaro was true dual or not, but either way that sounds a bit pricey to me. Especially if your exhaust is single in dual outlet muffler...

I cant find 1 on the flowmaster site for an 80 so i guess it wasnt stock? i dunno they want about 600+ for other camaros so the labor would be aorund 250. That still steep?

What do you mean by full flowmaster system? I looked at flowmaster & magnaflow when shopping for exhaust and I ended up going with magnaflow because the reason flowmaster is as loud as it is is the baffles within the muffler. Mags are less restrictive with the airflow so you actually get better performance... But it's all up to personal preference. For a ballpark estimate on price, I have a 3 inch Y pipe, 3 in. coming off the muffler and 3.5 tips with install that came out to be just under 800... Hope this helps!
