Default exhaust leak

I have a 2000 camaro (V6 yeah i know, but it's for insurance purposes). I just had the catalytic converter replaced (still under warranty, oh yeah), and the dealer thought i might have an exhaust leak, possibly in the manifold. What are the symptons, how do i check for a leak, and what am i looking at to fix it? please help. Thanks in advance.

In the manifold...right, since you just get random holes through your manifold...stupid dealer...

Anyway, if you do have an exhaust leak #1 you'll be able to hear it. It will have a pffft sound that will increase RPM. More than likely if you do have an exhaust leak around the manifold area it's going to be between either the manifold and the head, meaning that you need to replace the gasket, or it's going to be between the lower flange on the manifold where it dumps into the Y pipe. If you can't hear any signs of an exhaust leak, I'd say that the dealer was trying to get a little extra cash out of you.

Hey thanks for the reply, i kind thought that the dealer might be trying to weasel me out of some money, but there was still that thought in the back of my head.

Not a problem for the reply, I'm always on the lookout for "The Man" trying to rip people off...haha

Anyway, a bit off topic, are you a musical bass or a cold blooded reptile bass master?

The musical side. Although i do have a pet snake, so maybe that makes me a bit of both.

haha, well the cold blooded reptile would be the fish bass. What kind of bass do you play?(I'm a bassist as well, so I'm always curious to find out what other people play/muscial style etc.)

Sweet, Warwicks are amazingly adjustable, I just can't get over how thick and heavy the necks are. I play a Warrior Adam Nitti Signiture Series(serial #02) and I also play an early made MTD Saratoga.
