What "info" is that based on? Or is that just some opinions getting passed around? If you have a "consumer reports" type of comparison, I wouldn't mind seeing it for my own record. Other than in these forums, I haven't seen, heard, nor experienced that though. I have heard the "flowmasters suck" comment here more than once, but it was mostly in the 4th gen section. I guess it must be the way the 4th gen engines respond (or don't) to them!

Your car will be a bit loud with the 44's, and louder with headers. I would recommend a full system going all the way out the back too. And a crossover pipe should help to take out some of the pulsing, droning, ear-hurting sound as well. With full exhaust, my car still rattles house windows and is way loud inside the car. But, I'm putting out a tad bit more than your 190 h.p. 350. Neighbors know when I go by, because their nick-nacks fall off the shelf!!!

 

i dont have the numbers. ive just heard forever and ever that flowmasters are cheaper for a reason. and if you look at the design they really arent that inducive to flow. magnaflows have a nice design though. i guess im just adhering to the accepted belief. its not just this board either. most will say similar things. get borla or corsca if you want power ect...

they have. ive seen a few done actually, i just cant produce them ATM and they are probably burried deep within google so im not going after them.

I should reiterate that when muffler/catback info is given its usually said that they are all basically the same. if the best ones out there net around 4hp, who cares if one flows better than another? i want to say flowmaster and dynomax didnt do too well in what i read. and yes, typically more expensive parts ensures quality. maybe not the best quality, but at least u know you arent buying crap

And I agree, most of the time price and quality go hand-in hand, but I thought we were talking about flow capabilities and sound? And for the record, there's nothing bad about the build quality of Flowmasters. They are a fully welded muffler that are durable enough to almost use as a jack stand if you wanted to.
And hold the wise-crack, I know what you're gonna say!

Anyway, I guess flowmasters would be good enough on their own then. 4hp, for me, isn't worth ripping everything out and buying a whole new kit. Partly because I don't know where to start, and partly because there's probably an easier way to squeeze performance if I need.

I just need it to sound good right now. Maybe put in a mild cam.
