Default 3.8 exhust question

hey guys I got a 99' 3.8 camaro and i got a question. now recently i just took off my catalytic converter becuz it went bad, and reduced alot of engine power. To replace that we made a custom 3inch pipe running off my stock headers, and reducing to 2.5 inch. now my question is will that increase or decrease my hp ? i am also running a flowmaster muffler on it too. besides it being a ton louder does this affect the proformace any? if so should i put a new cat on it, recomend brands, ect. ????????

Catco seems to be the best for high flow cats. I know that www.Summitracing.com has a Catco Universal 2.5 Cat for $69.39 You will definatly feel a difference in the car since your original cat was bad. maybe a little extra power.

if it is louder, that MOST of the time means youve got more horsepower fomr it. your exhaust is louder because the area space is larger, so more of the engine noises and leave the muffler. ofcoars, louder does not always mean more horsepower. short stacks with no mufflers are loud as poo, but only offer hp improvemenets in the upper rpm levels.
