I have a 1993 3.4 v6 camaro that wont start the spark plugs were covered in oil and gas and when i clean them up the car starts but then stops and then it will turn over and try to start but will just back fire could the plugs be bad

 

you got more problems than the plugs ....... did the car smoke before all of this happened? Was there a loss of power or hesitation?

 

be a good start, change plugs and if the plug wires look bad (cracked, melted or damaged) change them to.
