Default weird hum coming for underneath the car

I've got a 99 3.8. This weekend I started hearing a humming noise inside the car. When I checked it out further it seems to be coming from underneath, somewhere around the rearend. The tone changes when I accelerate and brake. From inside the carit almost sounds like engine noise going throuh a sound system and I thought that is what it was at first, but it is deffinately coming from under the car. It's not a whining sound like a tranny going out, I know that sound all to wellAny ideas what it could be?

tranny rear bearing, u joint, rear end gears or bearing, or maybe brakes. drum or rotor brakes? my brother had the same sound comming from his 86 suburban with a 4l60e, and it ended up being a u joint because it blew out on a speed bump
