Default too many fuel pumps?

I bought a 1989 camaro RS with a 1985 H.O.305 in it. I believe they left the in tank fuel pump in it and there is a mechanical pump on the engine. The tank pump isnt being used. The mechanical pump is sucking fuel through the electric pump.Should i remove it or leave it? what can happen if it is left in?Do you think it is restricting my fuel, because my car acts hesitant.I have a holley avenger 570cfm.Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with a fuel pump INSIDE the fuel tank on that year. I think that might be the sending unit. It shouldn't be hesitant. Have you tried to tune the carb? Did you check the fuel filter? See if it was clogged?

In 89 they did use in tank fuel pumps. I would drop the tank to see if it's still in there. It's likely to restrict fuel flow, and something could get caught up in it without it running. You'll need some sort of line to go to the sock once you take the pump out.
