subframe alignment after changing bushings

RE: subframe alignment after changing bushings
the subframe should be self aligning as the bushings and holes they sit in are designed to nestle or stack and dont allow for much movement from stock location especially if new bushings are installed. im not aware of any specs or measurements procedures that are commonly used by alignment shops for this, however a body shop may be able to help with some factory specs and points to measure from. you could try to cross measure yourself to see if your close. chose a similar point say on the pinch rail or other point that exists on both sides of the car and measure diagonaly to a point on the subframe (this point on the subframe must have a similar point on both the right and left sides on the subframe) this should get you close if not spot on. youll want an alignment after doing bushings anyway and the alignment shop will be able to tell you if you have a problem with way the subframe is sitting kurt

I never had a first gen apart but second gens, and other vehicles, have alignment holes in the frame/sub frame that line up with holes in the body. A bar that fits inside the holes will help you line it all up and keep it that way as you tighten the bolts down.
